Ian Tomlinson

I think that the hegemonic view of the police in a case like this would be very negative, reason being is the way the new and digital media portrayed the story to be outrageous due to headlines such as "Fury at police over 'secret payout' to G20 protester death family" this really does put a bad image on the police as this makes audiences put a negative reputation on them as they can see the police can't be trusted due to their secret payouts and this would lead to a bad reputation and negative stereotypes for the police as the case being put negative in the new and digital media many audiences will be influenced to believe the statements.

I agree that new and digital media challenges the traditional, dominant hegemonic views, reason being is that due to the rise of new and digital media many audiences are really connected to digital media, therefore they would really be influenced to what the new and digital media offers and this really does challenge the traditional and dominant hegemonic views as they are not very effective due to many audiences being influenced from the rise of the new and digital media.
