Olympic Opening Ceremony Article Analysis

When analysing the Olympic Opening Ceremony I came across a article by the daily mail that upon re-evaluation was removed due to the racist comments being fired towards anyone non-white. I think that the theorist that would most likely be linked with this situation would be Fanon, reason being is that Fanon believed that the only way black people could be accepted is if they were to wear the white mask and this clearly is linked with the Olympic Opening Ceremony article as Rick Dewsbrey believed that "This was supposed to be a representation of modern life in England but it is likely to be a challenge for the organisers to find an educated white middle-aged mother and black father living together with a happy family in such a set-up."

This clearly connotes that the white mask was clearly worn as Dewsbrey believes that the opening ceremony challenged the organisers as its not likely for a white aged mother and a black father living together happy and implies the mask was being worn as the opening ceremony was trying to show something that doesn't really happen in Britain.

However, I fairly believe that Dewsbrey is being very harsh and in other aspects racist but then again I believe that he's right in a way, reason being is that not every household with a white mother and a black father leads to a disappointment, however a tiny percentage of mothers that are single are from a black father so its a mixed answer and depends on how a person would want to judge. In conlusion I think that this really does relate to the theorist Fanon as this clearly shows how black people have to wear the white mask to be accepted hence why they did that for the Olympic opening ceremony
